Allen Kay is a very creative ad agency executive. For over thirty years he has consistently developed powerful, strategic targeted ad slogans and marketing content in the promotion of some of America’s largest corporations. Kay’s company, Korey Kay Partners, in New York City has developed some of the most memorable TV and print ads for years. Now, Kay’s strategic catch phrase “If you see something , say something” is going viral to aid in stemming the tide of suspicious behavior and criminal terrorist activities in public since the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11th, 2001.
Originally the slogan was prepared for the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority shortly after the 911 tragedy to encourage the citizenry to report any suspicious packages, activity or persons to the proper authority. This take notice and be alert campaign has had impact . The power of the strategy line has been evident since the New York street vendor reported the bomb laden SUV in Times Square this past weekend. When asked why he took the initiative to alert police in the area of the suspicious auto, he simply stated, “If you see something, say something.”
Today ( May 6th, 2010) on Fox News, Allen Kay was interviewed and he stated that he has now released the phrase for use worldwide and he is not going to take any money for its use. He hopes that its release from copyright will now allow the message to quickly go viral and global. This grand gesture of Mr. Kay is truly patriotic and a gift from a citizen of the world.
Communities and countries who are currently using the slogan in public poster campaigns know it will have the positive effect of saving lives and/or preventing disastrous events. Thanks Allen & staff at Korey Kay from what certainly is a grateful nation and its citizens.
