Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas Opens Two New Towers for the New Year’s Holiday Rush of Tourists

It seems as though Las Vegas might be settling back into that  high energy feeling as  the Entertainment Capital of the World if the last three days of the year are any indication.   Tourists began swarming into Las Vegas by car and plane just after Christmas Day and the level of visitors stayed high through Sunday for betting on pro football games like Cowboys and Eagles.

While I was in the gym at the Hard Rock Hotel on last Thursday, the last day of 2009, the volume among those present was loud and lively as Philadelphia’s best boasters laid out their ideas for the forthcoming football game.   Several guests from Cowboy country wore the team sweats and tee shirts but kept quiet as I did since I grew up near Dallas but did not want to be overwhelmed by the Philly fans who most were locals and friends.  They all are professionals in many areas and one of those  areas is gambling. So they know their game stats and lines on how to wager on their team.

They all seemed to have it figured out…..too bad that is not the way it worked out for them on Sunday.    I believe it was Dallas:  24 and Philadelphia:  0.   But I digress…

The real news that I learned during my workout with my  trainer is that many strip hotels and the Hard Rock especially were booked solid (100%) in the last four days of the old year 2009.   This would normally be great but even more so now at the Hard Rock Hotel since they recently opened a new North Tower in the late Summer 2009 .

To add to the surplus of rooms, the new South Tower  (all suite rooms) opened around Thanksgiving.   These new towers bring on board about 1600 new suites and standard rooms which more than double the HRH size.  Along with the added rooms came a totally new look of the expanded casino, a new concert Venue, more meeting rooms, new restaurants and retail shops.  While the look and feel are morphing into a really high end resort, the HR still stands for “Hard Rock”.

The resort is offering several new options to suit the wide variety of clientele on which they draw.   You have to remember that many of those grey haired folks may be visiting executives and managers playing at the tables,  in the restaurants and bars  and attending concerts at the “Joint” , but most are from the Woodstock generation…(me included).. and they still enjoy the connection with the rock genre and the feel of the energy at the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino.

One of the most interesting new features at this resort is the all new “Reliquarry” which is a 30,000 square foot super high end spa complete with fully staffed juice bar (serving any cocktail you request) and a co-ed Roman Bath as well as 20 plus  new massage and treatment rooms (up from 8 in the previous spa in the original hotel tower) and an executive level work out room.  The classic RockSpa remains at the other end of the hotel adjacent to the North Tower and has a state of the art workout facility with a more sportsman oriented spa.

Just a quick calculation would give you and estimate of an additional staff of  3000+ plus jobs which in this down economy struggling to rebound is a very good activity and a positive sign of more things to come in Las Vegas.
